Privacy Policy
Rankr is built to work without knowing who you are. There is no account, no name, no email address and no advertising. This policy explains the little data the app does need, for the Rankr app on iOS and Android and this website.
What we collect
- An anonymous device ID. On first launch the app creates a random ID and secret, stored on your phone, so the server knows which list of apps is yours. It is not linked to your name, phone number, Apple ID or Google account.
- The apps you track and your settings for them: alerts on or off, their order on your home screen, and when you last opened each one.
- A push token, only if you allow notifications, so we can send rank alerts.
- Your app language and platform (iOS or Android), to write notifications in your language.
- Your plan: Free or Pro, and when a Pro plan ends. Payments are handled by Apple or Google; we never see your card. RevenueCat processes purchase receipts so the app knows you have Pro.
- Request data: like every website, our servers receive your IP address and browser or app details with each request. We use them to keep the service running and to stop abuse (for example rate limits), not to identify you.
- Your phone's region (from its language settings) is sent with searches so results come from your country's store.
Usage statistics in the app
From version 1.0.1 the app uses Firebase Analytics (Google) to count how it is used: which screens are opened, a few actions (adding an app, opening a chart, making a share card, opening the Pro screen, starting a purchase, opening a notification), the app version, device type and an approximate country. It uses a random ID that only this app on this phone has. It sets no user ID and no advertising ID, and it never receives the names of the apps you track.
In the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland this is off unless you turn on Settings → Share usage stats. Elsewhere it is on, and you can turn it off there at any time.
The app has no advertising SDKs. We do not track you across other apps or websites, and do not sell or share personal data.
This website
rankrapp.com uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages people read: pages viewed, the site you came from, device and browser type, and an approximate location derived from your IP address. In the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland it runs without cookies and sends only anonymous pings. Elsewhere it sets first-party cookies (_ga, up to 2 years). Advertising features are off everywhere. You can block it with a content blocker or Google's opt-out add-on. The app's usage statistics (above) go to the same Google Analytics property.
What we don't need
App rankings, ratings and reviews shown in Rankr are public store information about apps, not about you.
Who processes it
- Cloudflare, Inc.: hosting, database and request handling (worldwide network).
- Expo (650 Industries, Inc.): delivering push notifications, through Apple Push Notification service and Firebase Cloud Messaging.
- Apple and Google: app distribution, payments and push delivery.
- RevenueCat, Inc.: subscription status.
- Google LLC: usage statistics (Google Analytics on rankrapp.com, Firebase Analytics in the app).
How long we keep it
Your device's data is kept while you use Rankr. Removing an app from your list deletes it from your list immediately. Uninstalling the app leaves an inactive record that we delete on request; ask us any time.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your data. Email hello@rankrapp.com from the app (Settings, Contact us: it adds your Device ID for you) and we will delete everything linked to it within 30 days. Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or Korea's Personal Information Protection Act) you may also object to processing or complain to your data protection authority.
Children
Rankr is a tool for app makers and is not directed at children under 14.
